Too cold in Michigan?

or anywhere there's too much snow? Well then, its time to come to Florida during the cold season now isn't it? We all love those days where we can walk outside without having to put layers and layers of clothing on. Here in Florida during the winter our daily attire is a pair of shorts, a t-shirt and flip flops, some of us even brave the Gulf this time of year throw on our swimsuit and take a dip in the Gulf of Mexico. The wonderful thing also is having the Warm Mineral springs to lounge in this time of year when the Gulf may be a little too chilly.  If you are tired of cold wet winters and long for the warmth of the sunshine, we think its time for you to do winters snowbird style. Trade in your snow boots for flip flops and your snow shovels for shark tooth shovels, yes, there's such a thing. Trevor had great success finding shark teeth with it. He said he likes it way better than shoveling snow. Trevor was born in Florida but grew up in the freezing cold winters of Michigan, he likes Florida much better and that's why he wants to help you find a winter retreat here in paradise. If you're ready to make the move permanent, he can help with that too. Sell all your clothes because you'll not need them here. A great story, he got a message on Facebook and it was a friend from middle school from Michigan. She is here looking for houses with a friend. They looked in a house and there was his card, how small is our world? I know they will love Florida as much as he does. I'm a Southern girl and never had to deal with the snow but he knows all about freezing hair in the mornings waiting to go to school, I can't imagine. So with that said, lets start looking for some houses where the only thing you'll have to worry about is the sand between your warm toes. Sign up here to get started searching for your home in Florida where the sun always shines in paradise. This is the website version, the phone version, just look for that little guy.

Just some fun memes to get you thinking.

Christmas Tree Safety

Remember on National Lampoons Christmas when Uncle Lewis burned up the Christmas Tree? Don't let this happen to yours.

It's Christmastime whether we look forward to, or not. The hustle and bustle of the holidays keep us busy going here, there and everywhere. You've made your Black Friday purchases and probably put your tree up. You find the right perfect place in the house and up it goes. Whether it's and out of the boys, a live tree from the store or for those who found a place to cut one down (you're my hero by the way) let's be safe this Christmas. Christmas trees cause 13 million dollars annually in property damage. If you have a fake tree with old lights, check lights to make sure there are no broken wires, they work properly, keep the tree far away from any fire sources. Keep all candles away from furniture and other flammable objects and never leave them burning while away. If you choose a live tree look for vibrant green needles that are hard to pull off. If the tree is already shedding it is too dry, look for another one, fresh trees are less likely to catch fire. Make sure to check your water for your tree daily, dry trees catch fire faster. When leaving your home make sure all lights are out, even night time, waking up to a house fire would be a tragedy. Make sure all lighting you use outside is labeled for outside lighting use.

Have a cat and a christmas tree? A christmas tree to a cat is a huge toy to climb, eat and destroy.  Cats will chew on lights and eat things from your tree that could kill it and possible start a fire. Cats will drink the water that may not be good for them as well. Keep the water covered and place something under the tree that will make noise once the cat walks on it. Keep all cords covered to the outlet so your cat doesn't get the opportunity to chew. Skip the mistletoe, holly and poinsettias since they are poisonous to cats and dogs. Dogs and your Christmas tree? they might pee on it but that's probably it. If you have a puppy watch cords and your gifts, puppies might tear up those new slippers before you get to try them out.

Have a safe Christmas Tree that doesn't go up in smoke.

without the worries of cooking here's some places that may be able to get food on your table without even turning the oven on. Here's some advice from the Venice Friendly page.

Several people suggested Publix. It sounds like they enjoyed the food, they said,  "Did them last year and it was great!! Turkey, Gravy, Stuffing, Mash Potatoes, Cranberry Sauce and Dessert!!" another person said, "You can get the entire feast from Honey Baked Ham Store." A suggestion has been Cracker Barrel may do take outs, give them a call to confirm. Der Dutchman in Sarasota was advertising Thanksgiving take outs said one person. Papa's meat market on the Island, per order now. You can also pre order from Wholes Food Market

We hope this list will help you out for the holidays and if you feel like walking off some calories after your big feast Trevor will be on the sidelines (adjusting his belt) ready to show you the house of your dreams. Next year a big feast at your house maybe?

I Could NEVER Live Here!

House Hunting 101

I know, I know we've all been there, we open the door and a smell so bad hits you right smack dab in the face and almost knocks you out. You don't know whether to call 911 to see if a body is in there or just push through it to see the house. I have been in a lot of houses myself that I would cringe at the thought of even walking through it. We all have our limits and well, some people don't care at how messy they let their house get. I've been in one that had old pee in the toilet!! Yes! We have to look past the OOOMMMGGGG and just know it can be beautiful. Just remember when you are home hunting what you see is good ole elbow grease, imagination, and some cosmetic work, new color on the walls go a long way for creating a new crisp look. Try to visualize the home empty, look at the walls, the floors, the layout of the rooms. Imagine cooking breakfast in the kitchen and where you'd put your table or hang the family photo. It's hard sometimes to look past other peoples lives but when home shopping you have to sometimes create a blank canvas in your mind when the homeowners aren't so tidy or their style doesn't quite sync up with yours. When you hire Trevor, you get me also; yeah, it's a good thing, I think. I'm an artist, an interior designer, a photographer and I can see past the junk, I can help you see the home that is waiting for you, the yard that needs some upkeep, I can help you visualize what to do to bring out the curb appeal. Houses are houses when it's occupied with memories of the current owner's things, I can help you see it as home.

Hope you'll home hunt with us soon, it's so fun and living in paradise? The best.

Selling Your Home? Hire a Realtor.

When you're ready to sell your home there are many things to think about, the first one should be finding a Realtor. A lot of people think they save money by selling FSBO (for sale by owner) it's been discovered through research that it sits on the market longer and 21% end up being listed on the MLS. A crucial part of succeeding is understanding. 19% of FSBOs were faced with problems of putting together the terms of sale and having in-depth knowledge of legal requirements in selling a home. Homeowners tend to sell their homes based on emotions instead of the prevailing market price.  A Realtor can check comps (thats Realtor talk for comparison) to other homes in the area so that you'll get the best price for your home; no guessing at what to sell it for. Why does it sit on the market longer? Because you're depending on word of mouth or you shared it on Facebook or any other social media. You've put a sign in the yard and hope someone will see it as they pass by and call. By hiring a Realtor you'll have all of your possibilities covered and will have a multitude of people seeing your home on the MLS. You'll have people who are not even in the Sarasota area that see your home for sale. You'll have people who are not even in Florida see it, that sounds like a win to me. Realtors have the time to show your house because that's what they do. A knowledgable Realtor or one who has me (hee hee) that photographs and stages your home will also suggest things to do to your home to help it sell much quicker. It could be anything from fresh paint, maybe new carpet or moving out a lot of your personal things to help a potential client see the home as theirs. If the yard needs some work they might suggest a facelift, curb appeal speaks volumes when selling a home. They will bring in a professional photographer (me) who will take photos and I will guarentee your home to get foot traffic faster than a sign in your yard. Your photos will be the first impression of your home buyers will see and any great Realtor wants the first impression to be the best. They will also hold open houses for people to be able to stop by and get a feel for the area, to see the back yard, to check out the kitchen space (face it ladies, that's what we really care about). Open house signs will get people in the doors as they are out on a Saturday or Sunday ride. Hire a Realtor to work for you and get your house sold fast! Well, don't just hire any realtor, hire Trevor Dreilich to help you find your home. If you want a pleasant person to work with and you know they'll work hard to sell your home, he's the one.

Solar Eclipse 2017

As Americans gaze at the spectacular show going on in the sky I'm sitting here working hard on ads for Facebook. As everyone watches history minute by minute hour by hour, I've pretty much missed it, it's almost over. It started this morning on the West coast and made it's way over Charleston SC. In Venice we only had a partial coverage of the sun and people were watching. There's eclipse beach parties, back yard parties, people hanging out in the yards with the family and I'm inside wondering if it's a cloud covering the sun or the moon, you never know in Florida when a storm is going to brew. I hope everyone was safe and used the correct glasses for viewing the eclipse. This was the first total solar eclipse in the USA since February 26, 1979. The last time a total eclipse was visible from coast to coast was June 8, 1918. Did you know eclipses come in pairs? A lunar eclipse always occurs about 2 weeks before or after a solar eclipse. The next total solar eclipse is going to be on April 8, 2024. It will come up for Mexico to Texas then on to New York and Maine. Maybe I'll travel to see the next one and have some glasses this time.
